Announcing Il trovatore – September 2022!

Opera Sustenida presents: Verdi’s Il trovatore

We are thrilled to announce our first LIVE opera with a hybrid multimedia-enhanced production of Verdi’s celebrated Il trovatore!

Opera Sustenida’s Stephanie DeCiantis will take centre stage as Leonora, joined by Canadian artists Monica ZerbeHassan AnamiAndrew Tees, and Dylan Wright, with Tonatiuh Abrego and Daniella Theresia in supporting roles. Music Direction by Suzanne Yeo, Stage Direction by Stephanie DeCiantis and Ivan Jovanovic at the piano!

Verdi’s iconic tale Il trovatore (“The Troubadour”) centres on a headstrong heroine Leonora, her rivalling love interests (Manrico and the Conte di Luna), and Azucena, a grief-stricken mother who holds the key in this story of vengeance and secret identities.

We are presenting a traditional setting of the opera with modern sensibilities, plus many of the digital elements you have come to know and love from our virtual concerts. We’ll also be including LIVE and digital performances from our Canada-wide Chorus!

The opera will be sung in the original Italian with our own contemporary English translation which will be projected as surtitles.Experience it for yourself this September!
